Inspiration

Chikitsa AI was inspired by the growing gap between people in need of healthcare guidance and their ability to access it. In many places, basic medical advice is either too expensive, too far away, or too unreliable. Seeing friends, family, and rural communities struggle with delays in diagnosis and unsafe self-medication made us realize the need for a free, ethical, and accessible healthcare platform.

What it does

Chikitsa AI is an all-in-one AI-powered healthcare assistant. It provides instant symptom checks, detailed medicine information, food nutrition analysis, mental health support, and even legal guidance on patient rights—all free, with no usage limits.

How we built it

We combined AI language models with trusted medical and nutrition datasets to deliver accurate, conversational health guidance. The backend was designed for scalability and quick query resolution, while the frontend focuses on a clean, mobile-friendly interface for accessibility. We implemented rigorous validation steps, consulted healthcare professionals, and ran multiple testing cycles to ensure safety and reliability.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring the AI delivers safe and medically sound suggestions without replacing professional diagnosis.

Finding verified, bias-free datasets for both medical and nutrition data.

Designing a smooth user experience while handling complex health queries in real time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a free, multi-feature healthcare platform accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

Successfully integrated multiple health services (symptom checks, nutrition, legal guidance) into a single interface.

Created an ethical AI framework to minimize misinformation risks.

What we learned

We learned that building in the healthcare domain requires a deep commitment to accuracy, privacy, and ethics. Collaborating with medical professionals early on proved invaluable, and user feedback helped us refine the platform to be more empathetic and user-friendly.

What's next for Chikitsa AI

We plan to add regional language support, offline functionality for rural areas, integration with telemedicine services for direct doctor consultations, and partnerships with NGOs to expand Chikitsa AI’s reach globally.

My contribution to Chikitsa includes conceptualizing and building the platform from the ground up — designing its architecture, integrating AI models for healthcare queries, developing features like the symptom checker, medicine info tool, OCR-based food analysis, and hospital suggestions, and ensuring the entire system follows Indian medical ethics and laws while keeping it free and accessible for users.
