Healthcare information is often difficult for common people to understand, especially when it comes to reading prescriptions. Many patients struggle to identify medicines, understand dosage instructions, or know potential risks. This gap can lead to confusion and unsafe usage. We wanted to build a solution that makes medical information more accessible, understandable, and user-friendly using AI.What it does

Chikits-AI is an AI-powered web application that allows users to upload a prescription image and instantly get:

Identified medicines from the prescription Clear explanations of each medicine Usage instructions and general guidance Simplified healthcare insights

The goal is to translate complex prescriptions into simple, understandable information for everyday users.

How we built it

We built Chikits-AI as a web-based platform using:

Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript / React (for UI) Backend: Node.js / API integration AI Integration: Image processing + LLM to extract and explain medicine data Deployment: Hosted online for easy access

The workflow:

User uploads prescription image AI extracts text and identifies medicines LLM processes and explains the data Results are shown in a clean, user-friendly format

Challenges we ran into Handwritten prescription recognition was difficult due to unclear text Ensuring accurate medicine identification without errors Making AI responses simple but still reliable Handling different formats of prescriptions Time constraints during development

Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a working AI prototype within limited time Successfully integrated image processing + AI explanation Created a solution with real-world healthcare impact Designed a simple UI that anyone can use

What we learned How to integrate AI models into real-world applications Importance of user experience in healthcare tools Handling imperfect real-world data (like handwritten text) Working under pressure and prioritizing features

What's next for Chikits-AI Improve accuracy with better OCR and medical datasets Add drug interaction warnings and side effects Support multiple languages for wider accessibility Build a mobile app version Collaborate with healthcare professionals for validation
