Inspiration
Chiemezie started with a problem I experienced firsthand: visibility. In Nigeria, finding a product or service nearby can still mean physically visiting several businesses, making calls, or travelling long distances without knowing whether what you need is available. At the same time, many good businesses struggle not because their products or services are poor, but because potential customers never discover them.
I wanted to build something that changes that. Chiemezie is based on a simple belief: businesses deserve to be discovered, and customers should be able to find the right businesses without unnecessary friction. The problem is not uniquely Nigerian or African; it is a global challenge for small and growing businesses. I saw an opportunity to use AI and technology to make business discovery more accessible, connected, and useful.
What it does
Chiemezie is a business discovery and marketplace platform connecting businesses, customers, and dispatch riders. Businesses can create a presence, list products and services, communicate with customers, and become discoverable based on what they offer and where they are located. Customers can search for products and services around them, explore businesses, view locations, communicate with sellers, and eventually purchase and arrange delivery through the platform.
The goal is bigger than simply putting businesses online. Chiemezie is designed to improve visibility: helping the right businesses appear in front of customers who are actually looking for what they provide. Dispatch integration extends that discovery into fulfillment, allowing products and services to move from businesses to customers more conveniently.
How we built it
I am a solo founder building Chiemezie with limited financial resources and largely through Google AI Studio. AI has been part of the development process itself, not simply a feature added to the finished product. I have used successive Gemini models to develop, debug, refine, and expand the platform through natural-language instructions and iterative testing.
The platform uses Firebase for data, Google Cloud Run for deployment, GitHub for code management and deployment workflows, Google Cloud services and Maps APIs for infrastructure and location capabilities, Amazon SES for transactional email, and Cloudflare services for media storage and delivery. We are also building toward a video-first marketplace, requiring short product videos to improve authenticity and help customers see products beyond polished images.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge has been building a large production platform with limited resources. I discovered the competition only a few weeks before the deadline, so the development period has been intense. Google AI Studio usage limitations sometimes prevented development for days, while getting Amazon SES production access and configuring cloud services required repeated troubleshooting.
As a solo founder, I have had to handle product strategy, development, infrastructure, testing, payments, location services, and user experience simultaneously. There were many moments when the tools did not behave as expected, but each problem forced me to understand the technology more deeply and find another way forward.
Accomplishments we're proud of
Our biggest accomplishment is turning an idea into a working product. Chiemezie is no longer a concept or prototype on paper; businesses can register, create their presence, list offerings, and participate in a marketplace designed around discovery.
We are also proud of building the foundation for a platform that can scale beyond its original environment. We have received recognition and encouragement from Google and founders on X, but the achievement that matters most is proving that a solo founder with limited resources can use AI to move a substantial product from idea toward real-world deployment.
What we learned
This project taught me that AI changes what a small team—or even one determined builder—can attempt. It has also taught me patience, persistence, and the importance of understanding the problem before adding technology. Speaking with businesses reinforced that visibility is a real operational problem, not merely a marketing problem.
I learned that building with AI still requires human judgment. Gemini can accelerate implementation, but the founder must define the problem, make architectural decisions, test outcomes, identify failures, and keep the product aligned with real users.
What's next for Chiemezie
Chiemezie is only at the beginning. We want to improve discovery, strengthen AI-native tools for businesses, expand communication and video capabilities, improve payments and delivery workflows, and eventually introduce additional capabilities such as escrow.
Our long-term goal is to make Chiemezie a global infrastructure layer for business visibility: a place where businesses anywhere can be discovered by the people who need them, and where customers can find, understand, communicate with, and transact with businesses more easily. We will keep building, learning from users, and improving the platform with every iteration.
