Inspiration
We saw things like Codex, and we wanted to make it more usable for founders. We wanted something that can use the computer and have its own environment that also connects to the phone, but is easily accessible for anyone.
What it does
It's a two-layer platform:
- The agentic context layer takes in information from synced sources via APIs in the backend and has live MCP to have context on what's been done and what's going on right now.
- The agent can have information on the business itself by looking at every single source and piecing them together on a per-company level. It understands what's going on right now and what they can do next, and it spawns agents to go ahead and do those tasks with human approval available so the task is thoughtfully taken care of.
How we built it
We use Codex/GPT-4 and Reptile loops in order to do the initial MVP, and thought of it beforehand.
Challenges we ran into
Computer use was kind of difficult to figure out. We used Cua with Cua, computer use similar to clicky, and we used some components from Codex as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
How fast we built this!
What we learned
How to build fast and ship quick under a tough timeline for a hardcore complex project
What's next for Chief
We're building it out on a large scale and adding another feature to make it live inside your Macbook notch/top of the computer, like a status bar. That way, you can always work with agents while doing other things and have a simple UI where you just click a button (like Wispr Flow) and it can be interacted with.
