Inspiration
Economic hardship is experienced disproportionately by Chicago’s Black and Latinx residents, who largely reside in the city’s South, Southwest, West, and Northwest Sides. As a result of this different schools are funded differently, thus students have different opportunities. We decided to use this inspiration to make a website to connect students in Chicago.
What it does
Students with our website can -Share information on different resources for school
- Information on different hobbies
- Share information on local opportunities
- Sell their skills in different subjects by being tutors and earning extra money
How we built it
We built this with HTML, CSS, Canva & Adobe photoshop.
Challenges we ran into
We had to plan to coordinating time zones as we are all on different time zones. We also had problems merging different ideas but we fixed it!
Accomplishements we're proud of
We are proud of our color palette as our team member derived it from the Chicago flag. We are also proud of the tools that could come to students if this website is utilized well.
What we learned
We learnt how a lot about the unofficial segregation in Chicago and the disproportionate problems that come with it.
What's next for ChiStudentConnect
Next, we hope to add some back end to our website and gain some feedback from students in Chicago on how well this would work. Following that we will use the data taken to edit our solution.
