Inspiration
With the world opening up again little by little, friends are looking to hang out for what seems like the first time in forever. Also, it is easy to forget that bomb sushi place you went to last week. If only there was an application that can help coordinate meet-ups as well as record places you have gone in an organized and clean fashion.
What it does
The ChiDe app is a web-based application where users can create plans, and record places visited. This is done by inputting information into the app, such as date, location, notes/reviews, friends invited, and pictures. This way, meet-up information is more fleshed out and consolidated and previous meet-ups are more easily recalled.
How we built it
We built the application using Next.js as the front end and Firebase for the backend.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled a lot with using Firebase and a lot of the functionalities which we set out to create could not be completed to the level we had hoped. We also had many difficulties staying motivated throughout the day as we had gone through many terms of sitting in front of a computer during online school.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We submitted a project! And we learned some hard and soft skills along the way.
What we learned
We learned that there is a lot to learn and that we must continue grinding.
What's next for Chi Des
We shall build out the functionalities we set out to create, namely the social features. This would require us to complete the backend code. Eventually, the goal is to deploy the application so that friends all over can hang out easier.
