🎓 Inspiration

As students ourselves, we faced a common problem: quality study materials are scattered everywhere. YouTube has great courses, Google has countless PDFs, but finding the right resource takes hours. We asked ourselves:

"What if there was ONE platform where students could find everything?"

That's how ChhatroBondhu (meaning "Student's Friend" in Bengali) was born! We wanted to create a beautiful, efficient study companion that saves time and makes learning enjoyable.

  • Google-powered search for study materials (PDFs, documents)
  • Intelligent filtering by subject and file type
  • Quick access to study notes across the web
  • Automatically adds filetype:pdf for better results

  • Real-time filtering - Find exactly what you need instantly
  • Subject categorization - Organized by academic subjects
  • Course metadata - Ratings, enrollments, duration, author info
  • Note statistics - Downloads, file size, upload dates

  • Created 150+ twinkling stars with CSS animations
  • 5 shooting stars with random trajectories
  • Particle system generating floating particles
  • All optimized for 60fps performance

2. Course Management

  • 12+ pre-curated courses with detailed metadata
  • Smart filtering algorithm searches title, description, subject, author
  • YouTube API integration for external search
  • Real-time updates with debounced search

3. Notes System

  • 6+ study material templates with file info
  • Google Search integration with smart queries
  • Automatic filetype filtering (filetype:pdf)
  • Subject-based organization

4. Responsive Design

  • Mobile-first approach with breakpoints
  • Flexbox & Grid layouts for adaptability
  • Touch-optimized interactions
  • Glassmorphism effects work across devices

🚧 Challenges we ran into

1. Animation Performance ⚡

Challenge: Creating smooth star animations without performance issues
Solution:

  • Used CSS transforms (GPU-accelerated)
  • Limited particle count with intelligent spawning
  • Optimized animation keyframes
  • Result: Smooth 60fps on all devices!

2. Search Optimization 🔍

Challenge: Real-time search causing performance lag
Solution:

  • Implemented debouncing (300ms delay)
  • Optimized filter algorithms
  • Cached search results
  • Result: Instant, lag-free searching!

3. Glassmorphism Browser Compatibility 🌐

Challenge: backdrop-filter not supported in all browsers
Solution:

  • Added fallback rgba backgrounds
  • Progressive enhancement approach
  • Tested across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
  • Result: Beautiful UI everywhere!

4. Responsive Star Animation 📱

Challenge: Star field overwhelming on mobile
Solution:

  • Media queries to adjust particle density
  • Smaller star sizes on mobile
  • Optimized shooting star trajectories
  • Result: Perfect experience on all screen sizes!

5. Data Management 📊

Challenge: Organizing courses/notes efficiently
Solution:

  • Created custom DataStorage class
  • Structured data with metadata
  • Easy to scale and update
  • Result: Clean, maintainable codebase!
