We wanted to explore creating a RESTful API using Rails and using Redis for field autocompletion. The problem we wanted to tackle was textbook selling. We did a lot of thinking and researching, and we came to the conclusion that most book selling applications do not succeed because they don't offer good filtering by course.
Our idea was that if we created an app for only uWaterloo, we can improve filtering. Therefore, making the user experience of finding textbooks easier.
