I wanted to create a space where players could experience the timeless fun of chess and checkers in a beautifully designed park setting. The goal was to make these classics accessible to mobile users while offering a fresh, modern twist.
What it does
Chess & Checker Park is a virtual world where players can enjoy games of chess, checkers, and connect 4 in a serene park environment. The interactive design allows players to move pieces seamlessly, combining the strategic depth of these games with the immersive charm of a virtual world. It’s designed for mobile users, ensuring easy access and smooth gameplay.
How we built it
I built Chess & Checker Park using the Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor, Grok, Photoshop, focusing on creating a visually appealing and functional environment. The park was optimized for mobile users, ensuring performance and accessibility without compromising on aesthetics.
Challenges we ran into
Scripting the mechanics for chess and checkers was a challenge. Additionally, optimizing the world for mobile users while maintaining its visual appeal demanded creative problem-solving.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of creating a fully functional and visually stunning virtual park that brings chess, checkers, and connect 4 to mobile users. Successfully scripting the game mechanics and optimizing the park for performance were major milestones. The final result is a space that blends classic strategy with modern immersion, offering players a unique and enjoyable experience.
What we learned
This project deepened my understanding of virtual world design, scripting, and optimization for mobile platforms. I learned how to balance aesthetics with functionality, ensuring a seamless user experience. The process also reinforced the importance of perseverance and problem-solving in overcoming technical challenges.
