Inspiration

The feel of a computer chess game is boring! We decided it would be fun to have the experience of physically playing chess even remotely

What it does

emulates your opponent's move on your board

How we built it

We used computer vision to determine the movements and inverse kinematics for the arm to pick up and move a chess piece

Challenges we ran into

the inverse kinematics did no yield very accurate results due to external factors and calibrating that was difficult. We also did not have a wifi module so we were unable to complete the wifi connection part of the project. Our gripper also had issues gripping the slippery plastic chess pieces.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to get computer vision working as well as were able to calculate the servos angles given the coordinates.

What we learned

Mechanical systems are tricky!

What's next for Chess Bot

Making the second arm, and making sure inverse kinematics works better and making a more effective gripper mechanism as well as connecting the arms to the internet
