Inspiration

Chemotronix built an IoT device that helps to provide carbon tracking and accountability. We are on a mission to ensure we take steps to tackle climate change by providing real-time data regarding emissions, offsetting emissions, and improving investment in clean energy technologies like hydrogen, biofuels, etc

Our solution is an interplay between Blockchain, Carbon credits, IoT, and Clean Energy

What it does

Our IoT device tracks emissions and our Blockchain platform helps provide carbon credit to offset emissions and drive investment in cleaner energy sources

How we built it

We evolved and learned more about the Blockchain sector and started utilizing technologies like polygon, Celo, file coin, and now Chainlink to build our solution.

Challenges we ran into

Coordinating the technologies we intended to use initially proved to be a hassle, we ran into several bugs and had to go over the documentation over and over to get the frontend and smart contract integrated and active.

  1. we had difficulties figuring out how to send dynamic data as an upkeep to the chainlink time upkeep and some of the functions, and dependent parameters that have to be fetched from the blockchain and even specifically Filecoin.

  2. Sending data to the smart contract via a decentralized mechanism was not so easy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the novel idea, to have been able to blend IoT and Blockchain, to provide a scalable solution for companies to monitor carbon emissions and also to effectively foster the reduction of carbon emissions.

What we learned

We were able to learn about chainlink oracle functionalities as well as the features it provides to developers, owing much to the fact that we can automate certain functionalities in a smart contract in a decentralized manner which previously would have to be done in a centralized server.

What's next for Chemotronix

Chemotronix hopes to perfect its solution by doing more research into the carbon market and deploying more IoT devices. We hope to get paying customers and keep pushing the world towards sustainable and clean energy.
