Inspiration
We wanted to create a project that incorporated both of our fields, chemistry and computer science, while still being a fun experience that you can walk away from saying, "Cool, I never knew that."
What it does
Learn about different flowers and the chemical compounds that make them useful for various hobbies, specifically, how they're used culinarily and/or for dying fabrics.
How we built it
We utilized HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, along with free asset packs from other creators on itch.io, and Google Slides to create our flower information cards.
Challenges we ran into
Finding a good starting point, finding information about the bioactive compounds in a variety of flowers, without sounding like we were repeating ourselves, working through bugs in the code, and figuring out the fixes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- IT'S FINISHED
- IT WORKS
- WE HAVE MORE THAN TWO FLOWERS
- IT LOOKS ADORABLE
What we learned
New methods of utilizing code effectively, especially when you're on a time crunch, and how to use various sites like Pinterest or itch.io for ideas and starting points as inspiration for things like backgrounds and color schemes, and how difficult it is to find free-use photos/photos that are under creative commons.
What's next for Chemis-Tea Party
We'd like to add more flowers and more critters flying and running around the garden, along with making the main menu more useful after you've already played the game once.
