Inspiration
I love the game Wordle and it's various spinoffs and I also struggle to remember chemical formulas so I decided to create my own game inspired by both.
What it does
Gives the user an outline of a chemical formula with the correct amounts of each element and the user must insert the elements of the molecule in order for it to work.
How we built it
I found some tutorials for Wordle and then once that was complete and changed the code so that some boxes were automatically filled with the numbers associated with the equation and I hope to make it so multiple letters can be added to one box to represent elements with 2 letters in the name, and hopefully create a system where each submission is checked to see if it's a valid chem equation as well as checked for accuracy to the original formula.
Challenges we ran into
Changing the layout for each box and changing the formatting of the chem equations so that the app can use it correctly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making the numbers for each box and adding the color changing aspects.
What we learned
A lot of string concatenation and editing skills.
What's next for Chem Craze
Create a system where the user can decide if they want to be tested on the formulas for acids, bases, ionic and covalent bonds, etc, and thus decide the level of difficulty.
