Inspiration I noticed that many people struggle with managing their finances and frequently overspend because they do not track their daily expenses. Realizing how widespread this problem is, I felt inspired to build a simple, practical tool to help people regain control over their personal budgets.
How I Built It I created Cheikh Expensive, an expense tracking application built using Python and hosted on Replit. Python allowed me to handle the financial calculation logic efficiently, while Replit provided a great cloud platform to develop and run the code seamlessy.
Challenges I Ran Into The initial version of the project did not work as expected, and I encountered several bugs with the logic and output. However, through continuous practice, debugging, and multiple iterations, I was able to refine the code until the application met my goals.
What I Learned Through this project, I strengthened my core Python programming skills, learned how to handle edge cases in financial input, and gained hands-on experience troubleshooting logic errors until achieving a working product. What's Next for Cheikh Expensive I have already added several features to improve the tracking experience, and I plan to continue adding new capabilities to make expense management even more intuitive for users.
