Inspiration

As college students and early career professionals, we constantly struggled to manage groceries alongside busy schedules. We forgot what was in our fridge, wasted food unintentionally, and often didn’t know what to cook even when we knew something was about to expire.

What it does

Chefie (FridgeAgent) is an AI-powered fridge assistant that:

• Detects food items from a simple photo
  
• Tracks expiry dates automatically
  
• Sends proactive alerts before food goes bad
  
• Suggests recipes using what you already have
  
• Automatically updates inventory when you cook
  
• Allows manual edits for flexibility
  

It reduces food waste, saves money, and simplifies kitchen management.

How we built it

We brainstormed real-life pain points from our own experiences and translated them into a working MVP using Google AI Studio. We combined vision-based detection, an inventory database, expiry logic, and AI-driven recipe generation into an integrated system.
