Inspiration
I used to cook with my mom all the time as a kid! However, as I grew older we found ourselves strapped for time, or not being able to find any exciting recipes that matched the ingredients we had on hand! Chef Voiceflow helps make cooking with your parents fun again, and gets them used to using AI in their daily lives!
What it does
Chef Voiceflow takes your inputs: how long you have, what meal time it is, the ingredients you have on hand, your preferred cooking tool, and any dietary restrictions to give you 5 dishes that are easy-to-make within your limits. Once you've selected your dish, it'll give you your ingredient list and step-by-step instructions to make it easy to follow along and get cooking! Plus, I gave him a bit of a French accent for flavor :)
How we built it
Linear block flow and prompt chains helped ensure its simplicity in testing. Taking lots of input, storing the responses as variables in Voiceflow, and using all the variables to curate personalized recommendations is the simplest way of achieving an easy-to-use AI assistant experience that even your parents can use!
Challenges we ran into
Started off by having way too many branching decision paths - realized it was a lot more streamlined to use "Response AI" blocks to take input, store them in VF, and use them them later in the flow.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Within 24 hours, the idea is simple enough that it can be used in real-world applications, but has enough depth that it can be used over and over again!
What we learned
Voiceflow has a ton of depth! Although I endeavored to ensure my use case was simple, I noticed in my process that APIs could be integrated to weave platforms together. Exciting to explore that depth one day!
What's next for Chef Voiceflow - Cooking with your Parents!
APIs would help Chef Voiceflow reach across platforms - to find trending dishes on social media. Eventually, it'll also help book reservations at restaurants based on prompts!
