Inspiration
We have noticed that the world has a lack of knowledge when it comes to delicacies from other cultures. We wanted to inform and educate others, especially children, through a fun, thoughtful, and engaging game.
What it does
Chef Lambda is a food memory game where you are given a list of ingredients for a dish for a limited amount of time. Currently, there are three different levels featuring three dishes from different cultures. After the time limit is up, you must correctly choose the ingredients that were shown previously to successfully make the dish.
How we built it
Our game was built with the Pygame framework for Python. It is hosted on replit.com. The images used in the game were all created by our team.
Challenges we ran into
Not everyone was familiar with how to use git so we resorted to sending each other the code and running it on our own machines. We found out very quickly it was much harder than it seemed because we had different coding environments. Instead of writing our code this way, we transferred all our code to replit.com. This way, we could all work on the code together without having to constantly fetch the latest code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
All three team members had never used Pygame before the start of the hackathon. The most experience a team member had was using the language Python. With no prior experience, we were able to successfully make a game using the Pygame framework.
What we learned
All three of us learned how to code with Pygame. We learned how to solve a wide range of different types of errors.
What's next for Chef Lambda
We plan on creating more levels for our game in the future for more recipes.
