Inspiration: We realized how much we missed home-cooked food.

Purpose: The product serves as a platform that facilitates a connection between individuals who are looking for home-cooked meals and those who aspire to become chefs or have a passion for cooking and would like to make money from it.

Building the Product: We made the frontend in Streamlit, Python, HTML, and CSS. We made the backend in Flask. We made the database via Supabase. We mocked up our frontend and UI/UX in Figma and utilized the FreeMealDAPI Key to get images of food.

Challenges: We initially created our product on React, but after facing many challenges due to our limited experience in React, we decided to switch to Streamlit. Despite not having used Streamlit, Flask, and Supabase, we learned a lot while building this product! During the process, we didn't know how to create buckets, route between pages, and handle API keys. After we finished ideating and researching on these topics, we were able to successfully create Chef Connect!

Accomplishments: Building an application from scratch and learning new things!

What we learned: We learned how to use Streamlit, Flask, and supabase. As well as how to store files, route between pages, and handle API keys.

What's next for Chef Connect: Scalability and custom recommendations.
