We all want to cheer up our friends when they're having a rough day, and what better way than with an adorable dog pic? However, it can be a hassle to search for images, save the image, and think of a supportive message to send along with it. Cheer Up does it for you! Your friends will be smiling in no time.
What it does
Cheer Up is an iMessage app that generates cheerful images and messages to send to your friends. You just open your messages, select the yellow Cheer Up icon on the bottom, press "_ Instant Cheer Up Here_ ", and voila! An image of an adorable animal and an uplifting message will appear and all you have to do is press send! You can do it over and over again to send your friends as many unique, cheerful message as you desire.
How I built it
I used xCode and Swift, and also my brain.
Challenges I ran into
This was my first time using xCode, so it was difficult to get accustomed to the nuances of it. Also, I couldn't download the app onto my phone because the versions of iOS on my phone and Xcode are incompatible. It would have made it easier to run and test the app on my phone rather than on the computer.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud of making something tangible that I could actually see myself using.
What I learned
I learned some basics of iOS development.
What's next for Cheer Up
To make this app bigger and better, I would add many more images and messages that can be displayed, and I would use a much more efficient way to store and retrieve the data.
