Inspiration
What it does
Our app is designed to be a safe place to check in between every day. Our app has two main functionalities, to allow users a place to chronicle their thoughts and also a way for them to explore new hobbies and have the opportunity to do self care activities. The calendar on the home page allows users to enter their goals for the day and check in at the end of the day through a small interactive survey. There is also a journaling feature where users can journal and rant about whatever is going on in their lives without feeling confined by what they did in the past.
How we built it
We used full-stack development with one front-end team focused on HTML, CSS, and JS, and one back-end team who worked with Python.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges with connecting the backend and frontend elements.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have never created a full stack web app before so we were proud of our experiments with this journey.
What we learned
Every member of our team learned a lot. We got to learn a lot about web app and full-stack development as none of our members had too much experience it with before.
What's next for CheckIn
We have many features we did have the time to implement in the time we were given. One of the ideas we had was to incorporate a points and prize system. This would help the user be more motivated to check-in withe app every day. Another feature we wanted to add was adding stars for every day the user logged in to the app, and a bigger star if the user logged in every day of a particular month.
