Checkers Gamebot

This is a Checkers Gamebot that allows a real player to go against an AI to see who is the better player. This can be played in an IRC channel that can be bridged to somewhere else like Discord.

Inspiration

We were frustrated by the lack of checker bots that we can play against in messengers like IRC or Discord and so we decided to make our own.

What it does

It's a full checkers game that has it's own AI that you can play against in IRC.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into was making the AI itself. First, we were encountering some problems with the move generation.

The accomplishment we're proud of is making our first very own AI! :D

What we learned

What's next for Checkers Gamebot

Rewriting it in Python or C as well as making a GUI frontend. Also changing the AI's algorithm to minimax instead of random.
