Inspiration
Our inspiration was creating a easy to use checkin system for physically impaired patients.
What it does
Check Me In uses a readily available Amazon echo to smooth line checking in to doctors offices. By using voice verification we are able to verify and check in a patient safely and securely with a single phrase.
How we built it
We used amazons echo for the hardware and used amazon lambda microservices to serve the sound to microsoft's cognitive voice services to verify a user. This was then sent to a web interface for the doctor to manage.
Challenges we ran into
There were two major challenges we ran into. First, Amazons echo does now allow sending voice files to other services for the sake of user security. Second, Microsoft's cognitive voice services sdk was not a finished api so we had trouble implementing it into our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of what we learned. This was also the first hackathon for two members of our three members and we are proud of what they were able to achieve.
What we learned
We learned how amazons alex works, as well as amazons lamba, and microsoft's cognitive service api.
What's next for Check Me In
Next for Check in is finishing the project and demoing the product to local doctor offices.
