Inspiration
"Was that purchase worth it?", This is a powerful question which more people should be considering. What if we had a way to get people to reflect and think about it?
What it does
It lets users log into an account which lets them see their stats and take part in a reflective quiz. The questions ask the user to express how much they found a recent purchase to be worth the cost.
How we built it
With passion and interest in the potential of such an idea.
Challenges we ran into
We initially wanted to use real banking data through access from API's however this was behind a paywall, making it restrictive and hard to gain access too. Even mock bank data wasn't practical so we decided to make our own data. Working with the JSON was also a challenge as the extraction of data from it led to hurdles of technicalities.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The user interface turned out great, and the concept of our idea is very promising and inspired us to strive towards doing it justice.
What we learned
As we were focusing on different aspects of the challenges, we each learned different things. From chart.js and various javascript frameworks, to bootstrap and databases.
What's next for Check Budgeting site
demonstrating the proof of concept is viable and finalizing some features. Turn the webpage into a progressive web app that can be accessed on your phone and linked to your bank account. Make the web app fully responsive, it currently works on mobile pretty well but on desktop the web app doesn't fill the page as well as we wanted.
