Inspiration
Inspiration
In Liberia, many adolescents and youth struggle to access inclusive, stigma-free Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education. Traditional systems don’t always feel safe or approachable. We wanted to build a digital companion that makes learning interactive, private, and empowering.
What it does
ChaviBot (Cha-Chat, Vi-Video Bot) is an AI-powered chatbot + video learning platform that teaches SRHR in a fun, simple, and respectful way.
Anonymous Q&A chatbot for sensitive doubts.
Bite-sized video explainers on SRHR topics.
Gamified quizzes for engagement and confidence building.
Multilingual & inclusive content designed for adolescents and youth.
How we built it
We built the prototype using React + Tailwind for the frontend, OpenAI API for chatbot intelligence, and hosted it on Netlify for accessibility. Videos are embedded for offline-friendly learning, and the system is designed to scale with APIs for healthcare directories and helplines.
Challenges we ran into
Making content culturally appropriate and inclusive without being too technical.
Balancing privacy while keeping engagement high.
Limited time to design UI/UX that feels both fun and responsible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a working prototype deployed on chatvibot.netlify.app.
Designing a safe space for youth to ask questions anonymously.
Building a tool that can potentially reduce stigma and misinformation.
What we learned
How to use AI chatbots responsibly in sensitive domains like SRHR.
Importance of human-centered design while working on health topics.
Hosting, deployment, and testing on Netlify for global access.
What's next for ChaviBot
Add voice + local language support for rural areas.
Partner with NGOs, schools, and healthcare providers in Liberia.
Expand features like helpline integration, community stories, and offline app support.
Pilot the platform with youth groups to improve inclusivity and impact.
