My name is Tope and I build a ton of chatbots. Restaurant bots, news bots, pizza bots, etc. Over time I found that I was building many of the same features over and over again. I was like man I would pay money to be able to just buy this feature and plug it into my bot.

So we created Chatsumo, an online marketplace for Chatbot Templates

What it does

ChatSumo allows developers to share bot development resources to jump start their chatbot development.

How we built it

ChatSumo is built using Ruby and pure Javascript

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge with platforms like ChatSumo is quality assurance. You want to make sure that sellers are uploading quality products so that buyers will keep coming back. To avoid spam we have implemented an approval process to vet every new seller on the platform.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are one of the winning teams at the Oakland Dev Circles bot hackathon and are hoping to make Oakland proud in the global competition as well.

What we learned

Through this process we've learned that collaboration can take you a lot farther than going it alone. And at ChatSumo we hope to spread this spirit of collaboration to bot developers all over the world.

What's next for ChatSumo

Hopefully a brilliant finish at the Facebook Dev Circles Hackathon
