Inspiration

Our cofounder Léonard worked in education and observed a significant shift in the localization industry: clients moving towards AI, and localization companies pivoting to data acquisition. This entire industry is changing focus, often lacking the necessary technology and efficiency. This was the genesis of ChatPay's idea

What it does

Users can sell their existing chats.
Users can create on-demand data (for fine-tuning and client-specific requests).
Users can write text and record audio!

How we built it

Back-end Tech Stack:

Telethon: Python Telegram client library.
Telebot: Python wrapper for the Telegram Bot API.
Quart: Async web framework based on Flask.
Telemetry: System for performance and user behavior monitoring.
Postgres DB: Object-relational database system.
ReTool: Platform for building internal tools.

Vite: Build tool.
React: JavaScript library for building user interfaces.
MSW: Mock Service Worker for API mocking.
Vitest: A Vite-native test framework.
Tailwind CSS: Utility-first CSS framework.
Storybook: UI component explorer.
Telegram UI toolkit.

Challenges we ran into

Many! The Telegram UI toolkit came with more challenges than expected and other technical ones. On the human challenges we have a clear business model with an unheard-of concept, so it's hard at first to break in to the Telegram and Ton crowd that we are shipping something else than a clicker type game, but when they understood ChatPay's concept, they loved it. Even though we are the good kids on the block, our approach is ethical and groundbreaking for the customer, (and the data we collect is not for ads) the word "data" has a baggage that is so heavy that we really had to fine-tune our communication not to be perceived as what we are not (another Meta, Adobe...).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

First of all, it's not another DeFi project, not another game on TG/TON, and so on... This project is unique, it's niche, and touches a huge industry at the same time. Similar approaches are scarce. What we learned

Lots, we learned it all! We are students from 42 Berlin, an acclaimed (for technical skills, soft skills and innovative approach) P2P coding school. Our school really stands apart and we mostly learn to learn: fast, together and in an efficient way. So we came well prepared, pure material for startup founders ready to learn it all, pivot, start again and drive through the difficulties of building a product and entrepreneurship.

What's next for ChatPay

We are looking for strategic partners (clients) that would ideally double as investors. Additionally, we plan to implement more "quests" (a gamified approach to content creation) and start collecting metadata on our users.
