Inspiration

Small businesses lose potential customers every day because website visitors often leave without getting immediate answers.

Most existing chatbots provide generic responses and require constant manual updates. We wanted to build an AI assistant that understands each individual business, its services, products, customers and internal rules.

The goal was to create an AI assistant that continuously improves with the business instead of being just another static chatbot.

What it does

ChatNEX is an AI-powered customer support and sales assistant platform for business websites.

It creates a dedicated AI assistant for each business website that can:

  • answer customer questions 24/7;
  • explain services and products;
  • collect qualified leads;
  • guide visitors toward contacting the business;
  • use business-specific knowledge instead of generic AI answers.

Each ChatNEX project has its own:

  • knowledge base;
  • AI behavior settings;
  • business rules;
  • widget configuration;
  • lead management system.

ChatNEX also includes automated knowledge monitoring. Using heartbeat checks, connected websites and e-commerce stores can be monitored for changes such as:

  • product availability;
  • price changes;
  • promotions and discounts;
  • updated website information.

When business information changes, ChatNEX can automatically update its knowledge base so the assistant stays aligned with the latest website content.

How we built it

We built ChatNEX using OpenAI models combined with a custom knowledge management and retrieval system.

The platform combines:

  • website content processing;
  • project-specific AI knowledge bases;
  • retrieval-augmented generation (RAG);
  • AI behavior controls;
  • automated website monitoring;
  • customer conversation handling;
  • lead collection;
  • centralized management through the ChatNEX Director dashboard.

The system was designed to keep AI responses grounded in real business information instead of relying only on general language model knowledge.

ChatNEX is integrated with WordPress websites through a dedicated plugin, including WooCommerce environments.

The plugin architecture allows ChatNEX to work with different WordPress versions, including older installations such as WordPress 5.2.21.

The platform architecture is designed to support future integrations with additional website platforms and custom environments.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was creating an AI assistant reliable enough for real businesses.

A useful business AI assistant needs much more than text generation. It needs:

  • correct business context;
  • controlled AI behavior;
  • updated information;
  • reliable knowledge retrieval;
  • lead qualification;
  • understanding when human contact is required.

Another challenge was making the system flexible enough to support multiple independent businesses while keeping each project's data, knowledge and settings separated.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a production-ready AI assistant platform that is already running on real business websites.

ChatNEX is currently connected to multiple live business projects, helping companies answer visitor questions, provide information and generate customer inquiries.

The platform manages six independent business projects, each with:

  • its own AI assistant;
  • separate knowledge base;
  • custom AI behavior settings;
  • website widget integration;
  • lead collection;
  • conversation history.

Through ChatNEX Director, businesses can manage projects, review conversations, analyze collected leads and control AI behavior from one centralized dashboard.

Building a system that works across different businesses, websites and use cases has been one of our biggest achievements.

What we learned

Building a production AI system requires much more than connecting an API.

The quality of an AI assistant comes from combining:

  • powerful AI models;
  • structured business data;
  • retrieval systems;
  • automated updates;
  • validation logic;
  • business-specific rules.

A successful AI assistant is not only about generating answers — it is about keeping those answers accurate, useful and connected to real business processes.

What's next for ChatNEX

Our next step is to introduce a complete payment and subscription system and launch ChatNEX commercially.

We plan to start by focusing on the Lithuanian market, working with local businesses and collecting real-world feedback. After validating the platform locally, our goal is to expand ChatNEX globally.

The platform is already being developed with international use in mind, including multi-language support for different markets and users.

Future improvements will include:

  • integrated payment and subscription management;
  • wider e-commerce integrations;
  • smarter knowledge management;
  • more automated website monitoring;
  • additional website platform integrations;
  • expanded multi-language AI capabilities.

Our vision is to build a global AI assistant platform that helps businesses of any size provide better customer support, automate sales processes and capture more opportunities from their websites.
