Inspiration
I have been working across various roles in software so I have a technical background (currently technical product owner). At the same time I have in the last couple of years become really into my fitness and it has had a massive impact on my mental health, positive mood, positive thinking, self belief. It has increased my energy and vitality. I have made many mistakes in the past trying to get stronger and lose body fat and have experienced the pitfalls many go through. I found chatgpt was very helpful at teaching me how to do it correctly so I had this idea to make an app that could track all of my diet, exercise activity and help me actually accurately count calories so I know that I'm on track and use chatgpt as a coach. I want to share my passion for fitness with as many people as possible so they can experience the positive life changing experience I did.
What it does
ChatFit is an AI fitness coaching and tracking app. The user can use AI assisted accurate calorie estimations of exercise activity and food, they can track their total calories in and out so the user can track if they are actually in a deficit or surplus. There is an AI chat to get science based advice with all of that data in context. There is a coach feature which has four different types of personas depending how the user responds to best
- Commando: Tough love, drill sargeaunt, doesn't accept excuses and deeply wants the user to succeed through discipline and overcoming adversity
- Luna: Empathetic and coaches the user through wellness and self-care
- Sunny: Super postive and motivational. Always tries to pick up the user when down and put a positive spin on things
- Modi: The robot. He is purely logical and has no emotions. He tells it how it is. Like a robot.

Challenges we ran into
- having the energy to work really hard around my busy 9-5 schedule and sacrificing fun social events
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- released an app that is really effective at tracking calories having used it heavily on myself - I am happier looking at myself in the mirror than I was. I used to give up because it was too hard and now I have clarity I am smashing my goals.
What we learned
- I initially started with a calorie tracking app and nobody cared, but I had a vision to pivot into a coaching app and people were really excited about that idea
- A lot about different AI models and how to use them to make apps
What's next for ChatFit
There are many features I am planning to build going forward (I am working as hard as possible around my 9-5!)
- Women's health: Get coaching that is aware of hormone fluctuations during the menstrual cycle and deeply understands how things like menopause and perimenopause affects all affects dietary requirements and how to get the most out of your training depending on your cycle.
- Highly personalised training & diet plans
- weekly check ins to see if the user's intentions match the behaviours and to help the user to adjust
- Form checking to help the user perform the exercises based on their goal
- Much More!!
