Inspiration
Mental health is important to us, and there's a sort of mental health crisis right now.
What it does
It’s a chatbot that prompts users for their input in regards to their mental health.
How we built it
We used Python in Visual Studio Code and used a live share extension to collaborate. The most important Python libraries we used were transformers, webbrowser, and tkinter.
Challenges we ran into
Alex had trouble with getting the transformers library to work and committing the changes he made due to some unknown error. We also had trouble determining what direction we wanted our project to take.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It's Kaitlin and Jackson's first hackathon.
What we learned
We learned how to use tkinter, transformers, and Hugging Face.
What's next for Therapist Chatbot
We plan on making it a fully functional chatbot that uses models to generate responses and engage with continuous conversation with the user rather than going off a flowchart. We also plan on expanding the chatbot’s capabilities to determine how the user is feeling, and provide the user with more resources depending on their mental state. We also plan on implementing it into a website rather than it being just a program.
