Inspiration: Christopher: I wanted to work on a program with a team that was enthusiastic about completing the idea and having it provide something for us and the users. Ike: My interest in AI, chatbots in general, the renegade chatbot, and my desire to learn more about computer science at Bakersfield College! Fen: I wanted to make something practical that uses software components to benefit students like myself.
Accomplishments: Christopher: I was able to work with my team to implement different, beneficial ideas to complete a project. I learned how to work with the tkinter library in python to be able to create a graphical user interface(GUI) for the chat bot. Ike: Learning python and converting C++ code to python. It was also a bit of a challenge to make sure I was on the same page as my team. Fen: Learning python and working an amazing team to get our desired solution.
Challenges: Christopher: Putting together new aspects or capabilities of this chat bot (especially in terms of the GUI). It was difficult to navigate learning new things and implementing them without introducing some kind of error. Ike: Learning python and converting C++ code to python. It was also a bit of a challenge to make sure I was on the same page as my team. Fen: Learning Python and staying in track with my team
Goals: Expanding chatbot's content, and thus knowledge, implementing machine learning, and extending the team to all BC comp sci students by making it an open source project.
