Inspiration
I was inspired by doing some volunteer work in an org in my hometown that heavily struggled with self-organization and logistics and so this application is primarily inspired by that, mostly in the pain points that I found while working with the administration and higher-ups of a mutual aid organization.
What it does
The app onboards volunteers with a short interest form, then matches them to local "crews" aligned with the causes they care about. On the organization side, it provides a landing page where staff can ask natural-language questions about event information and generate two-week action plans automatically.
How we built it
The app is powered by AI agents built and deployed entirely on the DigitalOcean Gradient AI platform, from inference to hosting.
Challenges we ran into
Real, granular data on which issues most need organizing capacity in SF proved hard to find. We addressed this by combining synthetic seed data with public information from OpenSF to approximate realistic conditions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the app's usability — the onboarding and matching flow stays simple and intuitive, which matters most for volunteers who may be using an organizing tool for the first time.
