Inspiration
The lack of accessible internship programs for students interested in industrial history and preservation inspired us. Recognizing the value of hands-on learning experiences, we aim to create a program connecting students with the Charles River Museum while addressing gaps in research opportunities and short-staffed issues.
What it does
Our project is an internship/research program that allows students to engage with industrial history and museum curation. It features two tracks: an internship in fields such as marketing or finance and a historical research program.
How we built it
We used tools like such as canva.
Challenges we ran into
Our challenge was to get people to work for the Charles River Museum for free, so we devised credit systems instead of paying interns a salary.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud to create a framework for the internship program that aligns with the museum’s current needs.
What we learned
While developing this project, we gained a deeper appreciation for the power of teamwork and collaboration. Communication was critical, especially when brainstorming ideas. Additionally, working within a tight timeframe taught us the value of adaptability when plans didn’t go as expected. This experience reinforced how good collaboration amplifies individual contributions and transforms collective effort into meaningful solutions.
What's next for Charles River Museum internship research program
Next, we will test the program with a pilot group of interns and museum staff to gather feedback.
