Inspiration

Came from witnessing many local community services struggling to find volunteers

What it does

Our ecosystem, CharitySync, will attract more volunteers as they will be rewarded for their contribution with non-transactable electronic badges which grant small discounts at supporting local businesses and service providers.

How I built it

Python, Django, Bootstrap, Chart.js, Google Maps JS API

Challenges I ran into

Integration and Square payment API

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Working around the clock to produce a viable product.

What I learned

Collaboration.

What's next for CharitySync

Conquering the world.

Wouldn’t it be great if we had more volunteers helping out our community? Show graph. A report from the from a recent Volunteering Australia annual report showed a decline in numbers of volunteers in crucial sectors. Show graph Our ecosystem, CharitySync, will attract more volunteers as they will be rewarded for their contribution with non-transactable electronic badges which grant small discounts at supporting local businesses and service providers. Off an article titled “A Note On Charity Through Marginal Price Discrimination” that Vitalik Buterin wrote, we have leveraged off his devised economic model and built a second social layer on top that adds additional social incentives for each party. The site that we have created allows users to: track progress, view advanced badge statistics, discover events and information on charities and supportive businesses.
