Inspiration

Charities worldwide are in dire needs for money. While donating to a single organisation is simple, diversifying and contributing to multiple non-profit organizations can cost time, effort and a serious commitment to discover different charities. Furthermore each charity faces non-trivial administrative overheads to provide individuals and companies alike with donation receipts.

What it does

Fund. solves this problem by providing a single Non-Profit-Entity companies and individuals may contribute to, which goal is to promote and foster discoverability of Non-Profit-Organizations. Each donation received is will be divided to selected organizations chosen by the generous donour. Fund. strieves to streamline the donation process into a simple to digest application.

Challenges We ran into

Technological challenges, as this was the first time of the group using IBM Cloud. We found the navigating not self-explaining and were therefore slowed in the process.

For payments we protyped a basic workflow using the payment processor stripe and their connect Platform. Due to time-constraints we could not finnish a concrete application creating and managing the workflow automatically. Manually managing and creating the required objects (e.g. Payments and Organizations) proofed in Theory possible. Without a lack of previous knowledge Testing difficult initially, which is why we did not pursue any further automation here.

Similar authentication was initially perceived to be important, however due to our focus on simplicity, we decided not to include any authentication in the protype. In beginng we experimented using Keycloak to provide Authentication using both Social Logins as well as a custom Registration progress.

While the frontend also seemed to have some time management issues.

Accomplishments that We're proud of

Finding a clear vision at the very early stage of the project where the entire team of nine were complementing and shaping the idea to build. It was highly motivational to get everyone on board with the vision and start the project as a unit. The communication was direct and without misunderstanding of all time which is a solid foundation to build a project on.

What We learned

Working as a team is crucial if you want to create somethine unique and exceptional. It is not to say that working in a team automatically leads to success. Hard work and self-motivation from each member is needed at every stage of the project. But a functional team is the key element to kick it off.
