Charities do so much for the community, where they be for education, social justice, or welfare. With the current situation, we believed now more than ever that it's important to give back when you can.
What this app does is allow a use to search up tags related to charities, and we create a list of charities that best fit the tag selections.
This app was written using flutter, with a dart frontend and a java backend.
Challenges the team ran into were a lack of documentation for implementing a java backend with flutter, and difficulty in creating the frontend of the app, resulting in the app not being incomplete and there being no demo.
Accomplishments that the team made were developing a functioning backend that would take in tags and return a list of charities sorted by whichever had the most in common with the search terms.
What the team learned was that more time should be spent on learning frameworks to fully understand how they work and what APIs are and are not compatible with the framework.
What's next for charity match is to develop a working UI.
