Charitable Polls

Inspiration

We wanted to create a platform that would allow users to support their favorite charities in a fun and engaging way. By completing surveys, users can contribute to causes they care about while also being rewarded with prizes and giveaways. We believe that everyone has the power to make a positive impact, and Charitable Polls is our way of helping people do just that.

What it does

Charitable Polls is an innovative app that empowers users with the ability to support their favorite charities by completing surveys and motivates with prizes and giveaways.

How we built it

We set out to build an Android application. However, as we have a stronger background in web development, we built our prototype as a website with its display constrained to the dimensions of a smartphone. We used React to explore a new technology.

Challenges we ran into

We explored react from scratch, with the majority of us having no experience with it. We were also new to using git and github as collaboration tools.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a prototype that represents all of the features that we set out to deliver.

What we learned

We learned about React and its building blocks like components, props, and routing. We learned about collaborative development and effectively finding guidance in online resources.

What's next for Charitable Polls

We have just scratched the surface of React and we are excited to dive deeper. We will build a more formal Android app that is more functional and aesthetically pleasing. We are exploring what frameworks and component libraries are and how to use them.
