Inspiration
The project began as an idea 6 years ago as character bounty. we were both constantly trying to get functional RPG tools for games like DND and Pathfinder and couldn't find any workable solutions. For this submission we built a mobile app for our submission.
What it does
Character Foundry makes building games easy and fun as well as lets you play solo. Our goal was no more bouncing around to 5 different websites, spreadsheets graphs. With the introduction of AI we realized that gaming solo was easier and better than ever, so having interactive games
How we built it
Initially built in Unity we realized that our webGL was not mobile optimized. After much handwringing I decided to rebuild a mobile version - first in HTML and Python and then later rebuilt than in react.
Challenges we ran into
Endless! A ton of work, time, effort in a unity app app.characterfoundry.io which works but isn't mobile and then to have that all not really form to plan, a functional rebuild that 'wasn't good enough' in html + python and then the final rebuild in react.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Trying to make TTRPG gameplay functional and easy for new players so we can relax and enjoy playing the game. Overcoming challenges.
What we learned
That ideas and creativity only go so far, at the end of the day it's about adapting to the challenges in front of you every step of the way until you achieve your goal that matter.
