Inspiration. We play games on our consoles. One mission at a time. One session at a time. We decide when and what content we want to play that day, what story we want to to live through and what narrative we want to consume. I envision we will do the same in real life. Where we will be able to choose pre-defined story line we want to progress today. Stories with this approach might always have different twist because user is in control how it is experienced. I only set the stage, user take the main role.

What it does. Experience is broken down into few lenses which you can choose in a sequence and experience it in you own surroundings at your own pace. It immerses you into a fictional world overlayed on top of your real one. Your world becomes an RPG set where you are the main character following main storyline and sometimes side quests.

How we built it. I created story and props, visual effects and filled it with the story line. It’s aesthetics transfer user into imaginative state where user is free to explore and live through the story at its own pace. Main idea is to set the stage, mood and story, user takes the rest - fillls it with its own personality, characters or story twists.

Challenges we ran into. It was difficult to build sequenced lenses using current state of lens discovery and it might be difficult for user to understand which story is part 1 which one is part 3 and so on. Better system to catalog lens experience would be greatly beneficial.

Accomplishments that we're proud of. Aesthetics are top notch! And this style works great overlayed on real world view as it doesn’t crate uncanny feeling. Story is in pilot stage but I believe it can expand and get more users to imagine and take their own twist of the story.

What we learned. Creating story driven lenses is a production challenge. They need to be shipped in consistent fashion to keep it going.

What's next for Chapter I . Now its more aesthetically driven experience with very little or no interactions at all, next chapers should have more interactivity for users to offer in order to create deeper engagement. Also next move is to create more elaborate story lines, more freedom for user to interact with content and make it even more personal. Control it and contribute to the story and how it evolves.
