Inspiration
Writing a resume is often overwhelming and time-consuming, especially for job seekers who aren’t sure how to present their skills professionally. We were inspired to create ChantelleAI to simplify this process and make high-quality resume building accessible to everyone using the power of AI.
What it does
ChantelleAI is an intelligent resume builder powered by Google’s Gemini AI. Users simply input their work experience, education, and skills, and the app generates a polished, well-formatted resume in real-time. It offers smart suggestions, organizes content clearly, and helps users present themselves in the best possible manner.
How we built it
We built ChantelleAI using React for the frontend and Node.js with TypeScript for the backend. We incorporated Google’s Gemini AI which powers the natural language processing to generate resume content. We implemented real-time preview functionality, intuitive form fields, and a secure database (MongoDB) to store user data.
Challenges we ran into
- One major challenge was fine-tuning the AI output to ensure it remained both professional and personalized for diverse user backgrounds. We also had to carefully design the UI to balance simplicity and flexibility while integrating real-time updates without performance issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We successfully created a seamless, user-friendly experience that generates recruiter-ready resumes in minutes. We're proud of the real-time editing feature, smart content recommendations, and the strong integration with Gemini AI that ensures high-quality output. I would also like to extend my gratitude to my team members, Athithiya and Joshua who helped me alongside the entire duration, where we spent countless hours running into errors and managing to overcome them.
What we learned
- We learned the importance of user-centric design when working with AI Generated content. Keeping the user interface simple yet effective proved to be both feasible and essential as users were more likely to engage with the tool when it was intuitive and straightforward. We also gained valuable experience integrating advanced AI models into practical, everyday tools which helped to solve real world issues and significantly improve convenience for everyone.
What's next for ChantelleAI
- We're planning to introduce multilingual resume support, personalized templates by industry, and one-click job application integration. We also aim to implement analytics that help users track resume views and performance.
