Chansey Care

Inspiration

Emergency response systems are often overwhelmed by non-critical wellness checks, which can delay care for people facing true emergencies. At the same time, many at-risk individuals, such as elderly patients, people with chronic conditions, and people living alone, may not be able to quickly reach a phone, explain what is happening, or get immediate support.

We asked ourselves:

What if saying “help” was enough to instantly connect someone to care?

Chansey Care, named after the nurse Pokémon, was inspired by the idea of creating a faster, lower-friction bridge between patients at home and medical professionals. Instead of forcing every uncertain situation into a 911 call and EMS dispatch, our system creates an earlier layer of remote triage where a clinician can check in, assess the patient through video and audio, and escalate only when needed.

Our goal is not to replace emergency services. It is to make help more accessible and make escalation smarter.

What it does

Chansey Care is a voice-activated remote wellness check system that connects patients at home with medical professionals in real time.

When a patient says “help,” the system follows this flow:

Voice Trigger -> Patient Alert -> Doctor Dashboard -> Remote Wellness Check -> Report / Escalation

##Challenges we faced
**Connecting the robot state to the web dashboard**
One challenge we faced was making sure the robot’s live JSON state could update the frontend correctly, instead of just relying on mock patient data.

**Translating robot signals into clinical statuses**
The robot might only send simple states like “help,” “call ready,” or “battery,” but the dashboard needs to turn that into useful medical workflow labels like Needs Help, In Session, or Escalated.
