About the Project
Inspiration:
We wanted to create a simple, engaging way for Reddit communities to collaborate creatively. We were inspired by the unique culture of Reddit comment threads, where discussions evolve organically, and thought, “What if the community could co-author a story, one sentence at a time?”
What We Built:
ChainStory is a collaborative storytelling game. Story prompt appears, and users contribute one-sentence comments to continue the story. The app automatically compiles these comments into a living narrative that evolves with the community, users can vote to make others focus on most value comments.
How We Built It:
We used Devvit Web with React to build the frontend. The app is designed to be lightweight, mobile-friendly, and easy to integrate into any subreddit.
Challenges:
- A LOT OF BUGS
- We had pretty short time
- Hard to manage multiple platforms
What We Learned:
- How to leverage Reddit’s community-driven content in creative ways.
- Building with Devvit Web and connecting interactive components quickly.
- Some web dev experience is always good
