ChainCert

Inspiration

College credentials are increasingly becoming more difficult to evaluate. Furthermore, new types of credentials like bootcamps have come into play.

What it does

It permanently stores credentials into a blockchain. Analysts can use this blockchain in order to evaluate the credentials of an individual, and find individuals with certain skills.

How we built it

We used IBM Hyperledger to build this, starting with the Playground. We watched many videos and went through many tutorials on doing this.

Challenges we ran into

We had to learn a whole framework then figure out how to put our concept onto this framework. Translating our thoughts into framework code has been a major challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We got the framework to run, and got a great understanding of the blockchain. We were able to impose constraints and understand how we can build our product.

What we learned

We learned how IBM Hyperledger works. We learned a lot about blockchain, and a lot about the credential problem.

What's next for ChainCert

We will continue to build this and release a small prototype.
