Inspiration
In our previous game jam, we were interested in creating a game that promotes mental and physical health. Thus, we came up with an interactive game with our gym rat Chad.
What it does
You will be working out with Chad through a rhythm game where each keystroke will result in a specific pose. When the song is over or when your health is depleted, your workout will end with Chad, and he will rest, and he reminds you to do so too!
How we built it
Chad's Chadilicious Day was made with Unity 2D. We drew all of our assets in Unity and Aseprite and wrote all our code in C#.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenge was detecting when the user pressed a button at the correct time. Initially, we added the functionality to detect user's input to each note that was coming down the page, but we ran into many issues with trying to validate the user's input. We resolved this problem by rewriting our code and taking advantage of Unity's collider functionality.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Chad looks real swag and having the rhythm game get progressively harder!
What we learned
We learned more about Unity's functionalities and how certain key strokes will produce sfx sounds!
What's next for Chad's Chadilicious Day
We want to develop more interactive gameplay with Chad to make his day feel more filled and create an AR version of this game that tracks player hand positions to workout alongside Chad.
