About the Chachisha Project

Inspiration

Chachisha was inspired by our collective frustration with the rampant corruption in Kenya. The staggering loss of over KSh 700 billion annually to corruption—funds that could transform our healthcare, education, and infrastructure—motivated us to create a platform that exposes corrupt politicians and empowers citizens to demand transparency and accountability from their leaders.

What It Does

Chachisha is an online platform designed to expose political corruption in Kenya. It profiles corrupt politicians, details the scandals they've been involved in, and shows the tangible impact of lost funds on our communities. By raising public awareness and providing tools for accountability, Chachisha empowers citizens to hold leaders accountable and demand integrity in governance.

How We Built It

We built Chachisha through careful planning, extensive research, and rigorous data collection efforts. As a team, we collaborated on idea formulation and project management, ensuring that every aspect of the platform was designed to effectively expose corruption and mobilize citizens. We gathered and analyzed data on corruption cases, profiled the politicians involved, and highlighted the impact of lost funds on our communities. Using a combination of web development technologies and data analysis tools, we crafted Chachisha to be user-friendly, informative, and impactful.

Challenges We Ran Into

Building Chachisha was not without its challenges. One of the major hurdles we encountered was collecting accurate and reliable data on corruption cases, as much of this information is often obscured or deliberately hidden. Additionally, managing the project timeline to ensure a successful launch required careful planning and adaptability. Despite these challenges, our commitment to the project’s mission kept us motivated, and we worked together to overcome each obstacle.

What We Learned

What's Next for Chachisha

We aim to increase our user base, document more corruption cases, and introduce new features that will further empower citizens to hold their leaders accountable. Our ultimate goal is to make Chachisha a cornerstone in the fight against corruption in Kenya, driving systemic change in governance and ensuring that every shilling of public money is used transparently and effectively.
