Inspiration -We were and continue to be inspired by the need to address the lack of personalized career guidance, the barriers to accessing crucial resources, and the socio-economic challenges faced by many students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.

What it does -Our platform offers a comprehensive array of tools including an Education Development Plan (EDP) that assesses students’ affinities and provides a foundation for personalized guidance alongside features such as a Career Pathway Dashboard, Financial Aid Navigator, and Job and Internship Portal, to bridge the gap between students and career opportunities.

How we built it -We used HTML and JavaScript to create a “barebone” basic version of our application, providing a visual representation of our concept. In the sign-up process, we configured Firebase by storing the API key and project settings, then create a function to sign up users using their email and password via Firebase's authentication service. Upon successful registration, users are informed with an alert and redirected to the login page. Similarly, for the login function, we'll use Firebase's signInWithEmailAndPassword to authenticate users, setting a cookie to keep them logged in and redirecting them to the test page upon successful login, with error handling to manage any login issues. Challenges we ran into -We faced challenges such as a tight video deadline, limited JavaScript experience among team members, contrasting ideas, and differing time zones—impacting our ability to collaborate.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of -We successfully developed a detailed concept and completed the project within the deadline, despite time zone differences and other difficulties.

What we learned -The challenges faced by many FGLI students often result in limited exposure to opportunities that can foster a growth mindset and self-potential realization, underscoring the critical importance of career exposure.

What's next for cgp -Our next steps include seeking funding, continuing application development, proposing integration with U.S. public schools, and establishing ourselves as a non-profit organization to help more students.

Problem- Our defined problem stems from the lack of exposure (and audience reach) regarding already established career aid platforms. In our initial investigations, we found that a lack of accessibility and versatility stand as the source of this problem.
