Inspiration
Traditional businesses are good at funding projects ahead of time that can make them money. But, it is hard to predict the outcome for many research activities and hence do not get funded. But, these research activities are essential to innovation and discovery. This project attempts create funding for such activities after it is complete.
What it does
The application creates a NFT to celebrate the accomplishment of the good work done. The person sells that certificate (NFT) to raise fund. Anybody can contribute to it either as a subscription basis or as one-time contribution. Additional bio-data information is available on the site for the individual or the team.
How we built it
We used Zora, Fleek, The Graph to store the NFT in IPFS/Filecoin. SuperFluid is used to fund against an accomplishment or award. Ceramic Digital Identity solution is used to showcase individual/group bio information. React used for UI. Solidity contract is created but mapping of payment and NFT informtion is not mapped there yet.
Challenges we ran into
Integration of Ceramics was not working due to incorrect provider information being passed which was not apparent from the error message. Supefluid integration required understanding the flow schema to display flow information accurately when switching from receiver to payor account..
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We integrated with 5 different platforms: zora, ipfs, filecoin, superfluid and ceramics That's very satisfying.
What we learned
Open source projects, humanitarian activities, research work needs the support of an individual and community to flourish. We need projects that works to achieve this aim. When integrating a product, find out first if there are any example implementation available that may aid in understanding the concept better.
What's next for Certificates of Impact
use ZORA platform auction functionality to advertise the good work done to solicit fund and build a community. Also, there needs to be some kind of verification capability, spam proof so that no bogus work gets unduly awarded.
