Inspiration
As Computer Science and Business Administration students, we always have something to keep us busy whether that be coding projects, case studies or algorithm homework. We've noticed that we often times forget to take breaks, therefore causing us to face the dreaded "burn out". We built CereB to help people just like us balance their work + life balance by setting reminders to take breaks and building healthy habits.
What it does
CereB provides students with a tool to help build a healthy work-life balance by setting reminders, taking breaks, and building healthy habits. CereB utilizes the Pomodoro Method time management system which emphasizes taking regular breaks when working. Our platform is based around this method and recommends various types of activities to engage in when taking mental breaks to give the right side of your brain a needed break. These breaks are a time to recharge the creative left side of your brain to promote productivity and efficiency in the long run.
How we built it
We built CereB with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and the iTunes API while utilizing GitHub for version control
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a group that assembled on Friday night, met for the first time on Saturday morning and delivered a working project on Sunday we are proud of ourselves for trying something new, welcoming new challenges, meeting new friends and expanding our WebDev knowledge!
Challenges we ran into + What we learned
As first time hackers we weren't quite sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by how much of our idea we could build in 24 hours. As with any project development process, we faced technical challenges that helped us dive deeper into our code and boy oh boy, do we know the ins and outs of GitHub now!
What's next for CereB
In the future we hope to adapt our program to other platforms like iPhone and Android apps, smart watches, and tablets. In future updates we hope to add activities that work the left side of the brain as well as a more interactive user interface by utilizing AI to personalize the users experience.
