Inspiration
Seeing friends struggle with mental health, especially in the wake of a pandemic that has caused many to experience these problems.
What it does
Our project adds features to State Farm's website that allows users to search for local community events, request State Farm to host an event in their area, search for support groups in the area, and join a support group online.
How we built it
We divided our work so we could simultaneously work on the frontend and backend of the design, focusing on functionality first before moving on to CSS. This allowed us to use our time in a more efficient manner and complete the project.
Challenges we ran into
Familiarizing ourselves with new languages and working with databases, which we were not very accustomed to.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to understand the languages we were working with and successfully implementing the database, as well as being able to deliver a functioning product.
What we learned
Even in a small group, dividing up tasks can help immensely with saving time, especially with frontend and backend development which will directly interact with one another.
What's next for Centennial Community Connector
Continuing to host events, continuing to provide outreach to clients, and eventually hiring psychologists to work directly for State Farm in order to make them more readily available to users.
