Our team focused on redesigning Centauri’s digital experience to make it more accessible. When we spoke about the origins of Centauri, the co-founder mentioned that it started in Small Heath, a multicultural area in Birmingham known for its diverse, locally run businesses. Many of these business owners are incredibly skilled in what they do, but may not have a high level of technological literacy or may not speak English fluently. This highlighted a key issue for us: modern digital platforms often assume users are confident with technology and comfortable with complex language. But in reality, many people find these experiences overwhelming and difficult to navigate. As a result, there’s a gap where people who could benefit most from services like Centauri’s are unable to fully understand what’s being offered or how to access it. We asked: How can we guide users step-by-step, using simple language and clear choices, so they can easily find what they need without confusion?
