Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea of using a time machine not to escape the past, but to reshape the future. In the 21st century, humanity has faced massive challenges—climate change, pandemics, wars, and rapid technological change. We thought: what if you could go back to the year 2000 and lead the world differently?

What We Learned

We learned how to build a full simulation game using frontend web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON. We also learned how to track decisions over time, use GitHub for collaboration, and host projects using GitHub Pages.

How We Built It

  • We created a multi-decade simulation game with historical and fictional world events.
  • Players take the role of the UN Secretary-General and must make strategic decisions.
  • We built a system with popups for decisions, a tech point economy, and a summary screen at the end.
  • News updates cycle at the top of the screen for immersion.
  • All logic and data are stored in JS and JSON files.

Challenges We Faced

  • Making the decision system both educational and fun.
  • Designing an interface that looks clean and readable.
  • Handling event progression logic while keeping the code clean.
  • Managing time effectively under a tight hackathon deadline.

What's Next

We plan to:

  • Add more events (real and speculative).
  • Include audio, animations, and a dynamic world map.
  • Add a save system and multiple difficulty levels.
  • Make the game mobile-friendly and include player leaderboards.
